What is this?
Some Wi-Fi devices have trouble connecting to a complex and secure network like NSCC uses.
This is due to many devices having a feature to hide the device's actual identification numbers - a useful security option when using "open" Wi-Fi networks found like those found in cafes, restaurants or other public spaces.
But the college has always requested the student or staff ID numbers to complete the Wi-Fi connection to protect our network from unwanted connections.
This negates the advantages of hiding the devices identification numbers.
If you are having trouble connecting to NSCCGuest, Eduroam or NSCC180 or Campus Housing's Eastlink 'Gaming' network, follow these steps below:
Apple/iOS - Turn private address feature off
Open the Settings app, then Wi-Fi.
Tap the information button next to a network.
Turn Private Address to 'Off'.
Android - Disable MAC address randomization
Open the Settings app.
Tap Network and Internet.
Tap WiFi.
Connect to the desired NSCC/Eastlink wireless network.
Tap the gear icon next to the current Wi-Fi network.
Tap Advanced.
Tap Privacy.
Tap “Use device MAC”.
Windows - Disable random hardware address
Select the Start button, then select Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi
Turn off “Use random hardware addresses”
