How to connect to the NSCC VPN Service

Important: Office 365 Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is required to access the NSCC VPN.  For information about Office 365 MFA go to How to Setup or Update Multi-Factor Authentication.

Request VPN Access

  • To request VPN access, submit a service desk ticket: Service - Request remote access (nscc.ca)
  • Once your ticket is completed you will be able to sign into the VPN portal and the FortiClient VPN software will be available in the company portal. 

Installing FortiClient VPN Software

  • On a Intune managed college laptop FortiClient VPN is available to install from Company Portal:
  1. Find and Click "Company Portal" in the Start Menu

  1. Click In Company Portal, select Apps in the left hand menu
  2. Find and click on FortiClient VPN

  1. Click the "Install" button to start the installation of the client. Reboot the computer is prompted to.

 

Configuring the Client

  • Launch the FortiClient VPN Software

  • Select Configure VPN

 

  • Configure SSL-VPN
  • Provide a connection name: NSCC and optional Description
  • Set Remote Gateway to "vpn.nscc.ca"
  • Select "Customize Port" and Enter 443
  • Select "Enable Single Sign On (SSO) for VPN Tunnel"
  • Select "Use exterma; browser as usre-agent for saml user authentication"
  • Select Save

Signing In

  • Click the "SAML Login" button:

  • FortiClient will open a browser window and prompt you to authenticate, if you are already signed into your school account you will skip to the next window.
  • Once you are signed in you can close the tab in your browser:
