JAMF - Apple Computer First Boot Setup With JAMF Remote Management

What is JAMF?

All NSCC Apple computers & iPads are managed using "JAMF" which is an Enterprise Device Management solution to deploy, set up and manage Apple computers. 

 

First Boot With JAMF Remote Management

When you turn on your Apple computer for the first time or you've followed the steps for Preparing a Mac for "First Boot" and Out Of Box Setup and Deployment you will be prompted with the "Remote Management" screen which means your device will connect to NSCC's JAMF Enterprise Device Management solution to deploy, set up and manage the computer.

When you start up your computer you need to connect to the Internet either with a network cable or through Wi-Fi. Below you will see the steps/screens you will see when setting up the computer. If you need to connect to Wi-Fi you will have a prompt to select your network.

 

First Boot

 

Select your Country or Region
 

 

Select your preferred Language then select Continue

 

Select any of the Accessibility options if needed then select Continue or Not Now if none are selected

 

At the Remote Management" screen you will have one of two options

  • Option One for Desktops (On-Site Computers)
    You will see the remote management screen where you will select Continue


     
  • Option Two for Laptops (Mobile/Off-Site Computers)
    You will see the remote management screen where you will select Continue. You will then have a prompt to enter your in your NSCC credentials then select Connect

 

The computer will then download and install the needed profiles and certificates and once applied you will be taken to the login window. If you do not see the Username & Password field and you see an icon with your name please restart the computer. Once restarted you will see the Username & Password fields.

Your computer has now been set up with NSCC's JAMF Enterprise Device Management solution.
 

If you're using a laptop that requested you to enter in your NSCC credentials as seen in "Option Two for Laptops (Mobile/Off-Site Computers)" you can go ahead and use your NSCC credentials to log into the computer. 

If you're using a desktop the did NOT ask for your NSCC credentials as is intended for labs and student use these computers will need to be setup and confirmed by DI&Tech with the JAMF Pro Console.
