Instructions

Software Center is the customer portal through which users can browse a menu of software available to them. It is similar to many "App Stores" found on consumer devices.

You can find Software Center in the Start Menu in the Microsoft System Center folder, or by typing the name into the search bar.

The Software Center will default to opening the Applications section, showing any software that is available to either the device or the user. The Updates section shows any pending Windows Updates that are waiting to install. Installation Status uses the built-in detection methods of Application Deployments to determine if software is already installed on the device. Most people will only need to use the Applications section.

You can change between grid view and list view with the controls under the search box.

Click on a software item to view its information.

You'll see some of the information about the software that was specified during the build of the application and its deployment. Click Install to install the software.

The display on the screen will switch to say "Installing". If the software is large enough to take some time to install, a percentage will be displayed to indicate the progress.

Once finished, the status in the lower half will indicate that the software is installed and the button will change to an Uninstall button.

The Updates section will show any pending Windows updates and their status. Updates that were previously installed will not appear here. To check what updates are currently installed on a system, use the interface in Control Panel > Programs and Features > Installed Updates.

The Installation Status screen will show the status of Applications and Updates installed on the system. The entries here uses the detection methods built into Application deployments to determine their status.
