Yes it's very easy to record yourself in Teams, but then what? The tricky part is how to share it.

This guide walks you through doing just that.

  1. Schedule and Record Yourself in Microsoft Teams
  2. Access the Recording in Microsoft Stream and change viewing permissions
  3. Connect it back to your students in Microsoft Teams
  4. AND we have a what NOT to do (A must read).

Schedule and Record Yourself in Microsoft Teams

In Microsoft Teams, Click on Calendar in the left panel and then Click "Meet Now" (picture 1). This is private unless you invite other participants.

This is your Video in Microsoft Stream (see below).

Click the 3 dots (•••) at the bottom underneath your video and choose update video details.

Connect it back to your students in Microsoft Teams

These are the details of the video. The only one that has access is you. Unless you are communicating with the entire NSCC community Do NOT check 'Allow everyone in your company to view this video.' Under 'Share with'. The Best Practice would be to share with your channel in Teams. Click here to learn how to share your recordings from Stream to Teams.

What you don't want to do

When your recording is done, it appears in a few places in Teams before you get an email telling you it's ready. If you click the 3 dots (•••) you have a few options. a video inherits it's viewing permissions from the participants included in the recording and the Group/Team it was recorded in. This is what happens when you push Share....

Clicking Share here will allow ANYONE at NSCC access to your recording very easily. Click Cancel to stop the sharing.

Best Practice is to manage your videos in Microsoft Stream.
